Lucknow Super Giants’ fast bowler Shivam Mavi will miss the current season of the Indian Premier League due to an ongoing rib injury. The 25-year-old, who last played competitive cricket in August 2023, sat out the entire domestic season for Uttar Pradesh. Despite joining Lucknow Super Giants’ pre-season training, he was informed that he would not be able to participate in this edition of the tournament due to his rib stress fracture sustained in August last year.
According to a press release from LSG, Mavi, a talented right-arm fast bowler, had been an integral part of the squad’s plans for the season. His absence is disappointing for both the team and himself. Mavi, who has represented India in six T20 Internationals, was acquired by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 6.4 crore in the last auction to fill the gap left by Avesh Khan’s departure for Rajasthan Royals.
The franchise has expressed its commitment to supporting Mavi in his recovery process and hopes for his swift return. Mavi, in turn, has pledged to return stronger despite the setback. He emphasized the importance of mental strength and focused rehabilitation during his recovery period and expressed confidence in his team’s support.
