A Superstar opens up on ’embarrassing’ tablet smash incident as Dallas Cowboys’ season spirals
Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy acknowledged he was ’embarrassed’ after throwing a tablet to the ground in an outburst last weekend.
Dallas, after finishing 12-5 last year, has severely regressed to 3-5 coming into Week 10.
McCarthy’s frustrations reached a boiling point during a loss to the Falcons last Sunday, when the team was stopped on fourth-and-1.
McCarthy reacted to the play by slamming his tablet to the turf, an action he called ‘no explanation for’ on Wednesday.
McCarthy told reporters, “I’m embarrassed by it.” ‘There is no explanation for something like this at my age [60].
Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy lost his temper on Sunday and threw a tablet to the ground.
‘That is not what I represent. I’m embarrassed to be the leader of this team… That was absolutely a moment I wish I could go back to.
Dallas would eventually lose the game and quarterback Dak Prescott to injury, as their season unraveled.
The squad is already 3.5 games behind the NFC East-leading Commanders, who are a surprise 7-2 under rookie Jayden Daniels.
‘We have five defeats, and we obviously recognize where that puts us in terms of what it will take,’ McCarthy said after losing 27-21 to Atlanta. ‘We need to get to winning.’
That quest will be even more difficult with Prescott out, after the quarterback suffered a hamstring injury in the loss to the Falcons.
Owner Jerry Jones informed 105.3 The Fan in Dallas that the quarterback was ‘likely’ to be placed on the injured reserve list, ruling him out for at least four games.
The Cowboys will look to kick off their season with a win over the Eagles this Saturday.
