His recent victory over Anthony Joshua is still fresh in his mind. And he did it in such a dominant fashion that it erased any doubts about Daniel Dubois’ potential and ability. At just 27 years of age, his IBF heavyweight title is the start of what he hopes will be a fruitful and successful career.

He himself has made sure to emphasise that his journey has only just begun. In an exclusive statement to boxing

Dubois knows no bounds: "Whoever it is, wherever it is"

betting site Parimatch, Dubois said: “This is the beginning of my journey and I’m happy to have proved everyone wrong. For my next fight, I’ll take whoever they want, anyone can get it. A rematch with Usyk? Come and get it,” he said.

Few had him as a favourite to face Joshua. The latter’s charisma and the impact of everything he does had overshadowed him, but Dubois delivered at Wembley in front of more than 90,000 fans. That’s why he’s now reaching his career peak.

In every comment he makes, he reiterates his desire to be the best. He has many obstacles in his future. With a performance that showcased his strength, stamina, and resolve, Dubois silenced the critics. “I’m happy to have proved everyone wrong,” he stated. But he wants more, and a potential rematch with Usyk is what he currently has in mind.

Dubois’ remark makes it apparent that he wants to see the Ukrainian again. It’s important to keep in mind that Dubois lost the fight, but it demonstrated his ability to compete with the best, and that it may have come too soon for him.

Usyk defeated Dubois in August 2023, knocking him out in the eighth round. There was controversy around the battle, as Dubois

had earlier landed a low blow that forced a stoppage. Despite not appearing to need it, Usyk took a break before stopping the British fighter.

After defeating Anthony Joshua at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in September 2021, Usyk won the London 2012 Olympic medal and went on to defend the WBA, IBF, and WBO unified championships for the second time in this highly anticipated fight.

One of the sport’s pound-for-pound champions and the undisputed heavyweight champion, Usyk, is still a powerful opponent in the category. But Dubois remains unfazed. He declares that he is prepared for a new challenge: “Usyk rematch? Come get it.

It would be a highly anticipated fight in the boxing world. Aside from avenging his previous defeat and proving himself as a true heavyweight champion, a rematch would cement Dubois as a top contender for the heavyweight crown.

However, first we have to see what happens on 21st December. Tyson Fury takes on Usyk in their own rematch in Saudi Arabia. They are fighting for all the heavyweight titles. It will be the fight of fights, just like a year ago when the Ukrainian unified the belts, something that hadn’t happened since 2000 when Lennox Lewis did it.

Dubois doesn’t mind facing Usyk, Tyson Fury or other top heavyweights like Deontay Wilder. His journey is far from over. His willingness to face ‘anyone’ shows his hunger for greatness

With the heavyweight division more competitive than ever, Dubois has the chance to make his legacy. His recent victory over Joshua has only fuelled that ambition. The pundits have already ranked him among the best in the division, but he has yet to take the next step. He should be given that opportunity, although his current position already places him as one of the official challengers, and his chance will come soon enough.
