Columbus, Ohio (WSYX) The Crew will send six players to represent their respective countries during the upcoming FIFA international window, the club announced Sunday.
Cucho Hernández (Columbia), defenders Mohamed Farsi (Algeria) and Steven MoreiraS (Cape Verde), and goalkeepers Nicholas Hagen (Guatemala) and Patrick Schulte (United States) were selected to represent their respective countries. Chase Adams, a Crew 2 forward, will play for the United States U-17 team.
Hernández will compete in two CONMEBOL 2026 World Cup Qualifying matches.The Cafeteros will meet Peru on September 6 and Argentina on September 10. Cucho has two goals in four appearances for Colombia.
Hernández’s call-up comes after he won the Leagues Cup’s Best Player title. In five games, Hernández scored four goals and three assists, helping the Crew become the first MLS team to reach three tournament finals in nine months.He scored two goals in the finals on August 25.
Farsi obtains his first call-up to Algeria after FIFA allows him to move federations once. Algeria was assigned to Group E in the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifying and will host Equatorial Guinea on September 5 before heading to Liberia on September 10. Farsi was born in Montreal, Quebec. He previously represented Canada at the U-23 level.
Moreira will also compete in the 2025 AFCON Qualifying Tournament, joining Cape Verde Islands for group C matches against Egypt and Mauritania. Earlier this year, Moreira helped Cape Verde reach the Africa Cup of Nations Quarterfinals, marking the first time the team moved beyond the first round of the knockout tournament.
Hagen will join Guatemala for a friendly against Uruguay, followed by two Concacaf Nations League matches. Los Chapines will host Martinique on September 5 and Costa Rico on September 9.
Hagen made three appearances in the Crew’s League Cup campaign. He recorded a shutout in the Crew’s 4-0 victory over Sporting Kansas City in the Round of 32 opener, and he made two saves in the final as they were declared champions on August 25.
Schulte and the U.S. Men’s National Team host Canada and New Zealand in two international friendlies this window. Schulte started all four matches for the U.S. in the Olympics and became the first MLS player to record a shutout at the Olympics, helping the United States reach their first knockout-round berth in 24 years. The 23-year-old has recorded a career-high nine shutouts in 22 MLS matches this season.
Crew 2 forward Chase Adams is currently with the U.S. Under-17 Men’s Youth National Team for the Vaclav Jezek Tournament in the Czech Republic from Aug. 30-Sept. 9. They will play matches against Germany, Czech Republic and Slovakia. The 16-year-old, who signed an MLS NEXT Pro contract in early August, currently leads Crew 2 with eight goals this season.
