Breaking News: Duo matched with exits as Villa sets sights on priority goal ahead of deadline
Villa have already been busy in transfer window, with a number of incomings and outgoings as Unai Emery attempts to bolster his team, but the club has had to remain cautious of financial regulations imposed by both the Premier League and UEFA.

With the transfer deadline quickly approaching on Friday, it doesn’t appear that our work is completed, as The Telegraph write that we’re still trying to cut the roster by relocating periphery players.
According to the report, both Diego Carlos and Leander Dendoncker are the target as we want to transfer them on to not only free up space in the squad but also allow us more financial freedom. This might help bankroll a £30 million move for Geertruida, who is reported to be Emery’s main priority in bolstering our defensive options.
The 24-year-old Dutch international would be a great reinforcement not only because of his defensive qualities and technical ability in possession, but he also has the versatility to play as a centre-half, right-back, and defensive midfielder if necessary.
In turn, that would tick a number of important boxes in terms of his ability to integrate and adapt to Emery’s preferred system and style of play, as well as to cover a number of roles if necessary as we aim to compete across numerous fronts this season.
We are thin at right-back, especially after Matty Cash’s injury setback last weekend, with Kosta Nedeljkovic anticipated to continue to deputise when we face Leicester City this Saturday.
Neither Carlos nor Dendoncker have appeared in our first two league games, and as we look to not only improve the squad with younger, more suitable options for Emery but also manage our wage bill, it appears that if we can continue to offload fringe players, we can focus on quality over quantity while also raising the level of the group with the addition of Geertruida.
