Manchester United are on the verge of signing Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain.
According to Le Parisien, a deal worth around £51million (€60million) has almost been agreed between the two clubs. The midfielder could join in a permanent deal or on loan with an obligation.
The French publication reports that there is a confidence that a deal will be finalised in the coming days.
For PSG, they stand to recoup the full amount they paid for Ugarte last summer.
Ugarte arrived with much fanfare, having also been tracked by Chelsea throughout the summer, and started the season strongly under head coach Luis Enrique.
However, the Uruguayan ended the season out of the team. According to reports, Enrique was concerned by Ugarte’s weaknesses in possession.
Ugarte at Old Trafford will be tasked with improving a midfield which features an aging Casemiro and Christian Eriksen and young star Kobbie Mainoo.
Fellow midfielder Scott McTominay continues to be linked with a move away from the club.
