Nottingham Forest are making progress in their attempt to sign Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal.
That’s according to The Athletic who say the Reds ‘are close’ to agreeing a fee with the Gunners having already seen one bid rejected.
It emerged on Monday that Forest had seen their initial £25million offer knocked back, with Arsenal said to be wanting more like £30-35m. It had also been claimed by talkSPORT that personal terms were proving to be something of a sticking point.
However, the latest development says the clubs are getting closer in their valuations and that discussions with Nketiah’s representatives have also progressed.
With almost simultaneous reports claiming the Reds have put in another offer for Feyenoord’s Santiago Giménez, said to be worth €30m, it’s clear the Reds are going all out to add depth to their options up front. Whether either or both of Nketiah and Giménez come to the City Ground remains to be seen.
Nketiah, who came through at Chelsea before being released and moving to the Arsenal youth set-up, has scored 38 times in 168 games for the Gunners but managed only five in 27 Premier League games last term. He is under contract at the Emirates Stadium until 2027.
