Breaking : Diego Carlos transfer update after Aston Villa defender fuels speculation on social media
Diego Carlos could leave Aston Villa this month, but a return to Sevilla seems improbable at this point.
The Brazilian has two years left on his current contract, and Villa are aware that his worth will decrease following this transfer window. Carlos moved to Villa from Sevilla for £26 million two years ago, but according to Diario de Sevilla, the centre-back is ‘not content’ at the club.
His social media activity over the last week has also been problematic, as he responded to an Instagram message claiming that a move to Sevilla was improbable by commenting “Impossible?” with a pondering emoji. Meanwhile, Fulham are thought to be interested in a move as Portuguese manager Marco Silva seeks to add depth to his defence after losing Tosin Adarabioyo, while Tim Ream may depart Craven Cottage with one year remaining on his contract.

According to Diario de Sevilla, Sevilla has stated unequivocally that they do not intend to re-sign Carlos. They claim that. the defender would have to take a big reduction in his salary, but insist he is keen to return.
Carlos missed almost all of his maiden campaign with Villa in 2022/23, but impressed for the most part last term as he helped the club finish in the top to qualify for Champions League football. He was sent off in the club’s 2-0 pre-season friendly defeat to RB Leipzig on Wednesday.
The former Nantes defender will turn 32 next season and is one of several players who are in the final 24 months of their contracts. Tyrone Migns, Emi Buendia, Lucas Digne, Alex Moreno and Leander Dendoncker also have two years remaining on their deals.
Carlos played 38 matches in all competitions last season and scored in the Europa Conference League win over AZ Alkmaar in November of last year. If he was to leave the club this month, Villa will be prepared to replace him in the transfer market.
