Breaking down the 2024/2025 Buffalo Sabres schedule: October

Following November, the Buffalo Sabres will turn their attention to the final month of 2024. The Sabres will start December with a five-game home stand. Casey Mittelstadt will return to Buffalo as the Colorado Avalanche enter KeyBank Center. Mittelstadt will return to Buffalo for the first time since he was moved before the trade deadline last year.

The Winnipeg Jets will make their way to Buffalo two days later. Following Winnipeg, the Sabres will host the Utah Hockey Club for the first time ever on a Saturday matinee. Then it will be the Detroit Red Wings, as hometown kid Patrick Kane will be in town, before the Sabres finish the home stand against the New York Rangers.

Following two days off, the Sabres will square off against the Washington Capitals

The following week will be Divisional Week. Washington was the first stop of a three-game road trip, with the club visiting its rivals, the Toronto Maple Leafs, the next evening. Buffalo will end the journey at Montreal.

Once again, the Sabres will play a back-to-back. They will host the Maple Leafs before traveling to Boston for their first meeting of the season against the Bruins. The blue and gold will play four games in 2024, three of them on the road.

Buffalo Sabres: Thoughts heading into the final week of the season

Before the Christmas break, Buffalo will face the New York Islanders. Their final home game in 2024 will be four days later, when they host the Chicago Blackhawks. The blue and gold will play their final two games on the road against the St. Louis Blues and the Dallas Stars.

Buffalo will play 14 games in December, including some tough opponents. I’m really looking forward to seeing Mittelstadt back, as well as two games versus Toronto in five days.
