Rotherham United have returned to the transfer market, signing winger Joseph Oluwagbemiga Mayowa Hungbo from German club Nurnberg on a season-long loan – subject to FA, EFL, and international clearance.
Joseph was born in Lambeth and progressed through Crystal Palace’s youth systems, eventually captaining their U18 team. He signed his first deal with the Eagles in 2018 before heading on loan to non-league club Margate. In the summer of 2019, he joined Watford, where he played for the U23s and made eight appearances for the first team. During his time with the Hornets, he went on loan to Alderson in the National League followed by a season-long loan with Ross County, where he scored seven goals in thirty-three matches. In the 2022/23 season, he appeared in nine games for Watford, including one at the New York Stadium, before going on loan to Huddersfield Town.
Last season, the now 24-year-old made seventeen appearances for Nurnberg in the German Bundesliga 2.
Everyone at Vital Rotherham welcomes Joe to the New York Stadium.
