Max Lowe believes joining Sheffield Wednesday was a ‘really easy’ decision after speaking with Owls manager Danny Roehl.
Wednesday have had a busy summer so far, with many new signings and contracts confirmed, but Lowe was one of the first to arrive at Fiddlewood Road during the offseason, and he didn’t have far to travel given that his previous club was Sheffield United.
The 27-year-old joined the Owls as a free agent after his Blades contract expired, completing a rare swap in these parts, and he believes he’s slotted right in at S6 alongside many players he’s played with and against over the years.
Several things will have influenced his choice to join, but he was eager to stress out that the manager was a key part of how he ended up joining what is an increasingly optimistic party in Hillsborough.
“I’m delighted to be here and meet all of the boys and staff,” he told the club. “I’m excited to get started because everyone has been so welcoming.” To be honest, I’ve fit very quickly; I know a lot of the boys from past clubs and have played against them. “It’s been easy for me, and I believe the same is true for the other new lads…”When I realized there was interest, I wanted to talk with the manager right away, and after a thorough discussion with him, I was able to make an easy decision. I had to be selfish and choose the greatest option for me.
“He has a style of play, he believes in his current squad, and he wants to improve on it. Looking back from afar last season, I watched how effectively the boys performed in their positions, and I wanted to be a part of it.”
Wednesday will spend a week at their training base before heading to St. George’s Park next week, and Lowe might make his Owls debut this weekend when they face Alfreton Town on Saturday afternoon.
