Chicago Bears

Online news: Why a superstar player’s rookie success can be both fantasy and reality

Caleb Williams, the Chicago Bears’ quarterback, is seen as a rare rookie capable of flourishing at the crossroads of actual and fantasy football.
The Bears have a history of failing to develop quarterbacks, but perhaps they have picked one that does not require as much development as past passers, and after all, they have an entirely new group of coaches to work with.

ESPN senior writer Eric Kara bell discovered a cause to turn up the optimism dial even more. He genuinely suggests that Williams is a rookie quarterback who fantasy football owners should seriously consider drafting.

Rookie QB are often considered a fantasy football nightmare but that might not be the case with Caleb Williams.

Kara Bell not only thinks that fantasy owners should choose Williams, but that he will be a fantasy star.
To be sure, this isn’t actual football.

Justin Fields was regarded as a fantasy hero since he could accumulate points as both a runner and a passer, but at a far slower rate passing than running. However, when it came to winning games, he had a 10-28 record as a starter–and don’t bring up the old disproved argument about how the Bears failed to support Fields because backup Bears quarterbacks were only one game under.500 with the same teams during the same period (6-7).

However, being a star immediately implies that reality isn’t far behind. After all, Fields didn’t start making an impact as a fantasy quarterback until his second season.
BEARS PLAYOFF CHANCES TURNING INTO TRUE COIN TOSS

It is undoubtedly a better squad around Williams today, and Kara bell believes this is the primary reason Williams has a solid chance of becoming the uncommon immediate rookie quarterback sensation in fantasy football.

This is simply a natural part of the Bears’ rebuilding process. Williams is regarded as the quarterback who can take any circumstance and make it successful to some level. With his current talent, it may be even better.

While developing his argument, Karrabul brings out an uncomfortable fact about Bears history that Muhsin Muhammad told everyone a few decades ago: Chicago is “…where receivers go to die.”

“Only 13 Bears individuals have surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in a season,” Kara bell tells ESPN. “Jerry Rice alone achieved that more often.”

Ah, but now they have Keenan Allen, who did it six times with the Chargers, and DJ Moore, who did it last year with Justin Fields throwing for only a career high 2,562 yards.
With Rome Odone as a dual tight end threat and a running back who can catch, no one should ever be able to depend on the false narrative that they have not supported the quarterback. Fields had average backing, but he should have been able to improve on his 10-28 record.

“This does not mean Williams, the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner, is assured of historic numbers and fantasy dominance in his debut season, but there is incredible talent surrounding him, and it is becoming difficult to envision Williams failing,” according to Kara bell.

Take note of the choice of words. He does not state that there is a good likelihood or prospect for success, but rather that it is “difficult to envision Williams failing.”

If Williams enters the league with an increased rookie baseline and improves from there, the supporting cast can be the deciding element in his success.

In essence, given what Kara bell has seen, there is too much skill around him, and Williams is too talented as a passer, runner, and fast thinker to be another Bears quarterback failure.

“Rookies are inherently dangerous to rely on, regardless of position, for fantasy managers and for NFL coaches,” Kara bell says. “But Williams does offer a certain pedigree most young passers cannot match.”
Often, the failure of Bryce Young or a few previous first-round picks is used to cast doubt on Williams, but Kara bell dismisses this notion by pointing to the second pick last year.
The Houston Texans have plenty of playmakers, with wide receivers Nico Collins and Tank Dell assisting TE Dalton Schultz and running back Devin Singletary,” he said. “Would you rather have that group or Swift, Allen, Moore, Odense and (Cole) Kamet, who caught 73 passes and six touchdowns from Fields and Tyson Baigent?”

It is a reasonable question. Prior to last season, no one would have considered declaring the Bears cast is better. Some may argue that Houston’s is superior presently, but it is only based on one season and includes Stefon Diggs. Even then, it is near.

“Williams has an elite arm, blessed with velocity and accuracy on short passes and down the field, both in the pocket and while on the move,” according to Karabell. “He is mobile, coachable and he shouldn’t be overwhelmed at the NFL level.”
