Done Deal: Blues Women’s are fixture list announced with new challenges waiting

Bedford Blues Women had a fantastic season in 2023/24, winning the NC2 Midlands Central Division with an unbeaten record and being promoted to the newly formed NC1 East Division, as the Women’s team has grown from strength to strength since its inception during Coved days in 2020.

All home games will once again be played at Goldington Road, as the Blues followed up a strong first full season with an outstanding second, winning the league and going on a special cup run in the RFU Junior Cup.

They advanced to the Round of 16 before losing to Hucclecote Ladies 22-15, but they had defeated Stamford 17-10 in the previous round, and they are one of seven teams competing in this new category, thus the Blues had previously shown themselves at this level.

Eddie Rannell’s team will participate in a seven-team league that includes Stamford Women, Peterborough Ladies, Ipswich Women, Bletchley Women, Walwyn Ladies, and Wymondham Wasps Women.

Blues step up

“We’re all excited to challenge ourselves at NC1 level and this is a big opportunity for the team to show how much they’ve developed”, said Head Coach, Eddie Rannell.

“Hopefully everyone in our Blues family continues to get behind the team in 2024/25 and we look forward to seeing everyone through the turnstiles next season.”
