Smith came off the bench to earn his 55th cap for his country as they won their sixth title after entering the competition as reigning champions.
Last month, he signed for new A-League team Auckland FC after his brief stay with Macarthur FC ended. He left English football in February after his contract with League Two side MK Dons was terminated by mutual consent.
He will play club football in New Zealand for the first time as Auckland prepares for their inaugural season in the A-League.
Smith made over 250 appearances for the Blues, scoring 23 goals after progressing through the Town’s academy, before leaving to join MLS team Colorado Rapids in 2018.
After two years in the United States, he returned to England for a brief stint at Sunderland before spending three seasons with Colchester United.
