Since his illustrious tenure as head coach and general manager of the New England Patriots ended, the world has begun to see Bill Belichick beyond his well-known monotonous and dismal “Dr. Gloom” character.

Unemployed Bill Belichick has been lot more interesting, since he hasn’t been reluctant to show part of his personality. Belichick has been on Pat McAfee’s draft night show, rolled up to Tom Brady’s roast, and delivered a passionate speech at Tom Brady’s Patriots Hall of Fame induction ceremony. His romantic life has also made news in recent weeks.

Several Patriots fans are loving the repackaged Belichick. Patriots fans are not the only ones. Legendary tight end Rob Gronkowski, speaking on Julian Edelman’s “Games With Names” podcast, has a

Gronkowski’s statement that “we would still be playing for the New England Patriots and winning Super Bowls” is the ultimate “what could have been” moment for Patriots supporters. The future Hall of Famer announced his retirement from football in 2019 at the age of 29, a choice that was definitely influenced by his poor experiences inside One Patriot Place. Gronkowski said in the documentary “The Dynasty” that he dreaded walking into the building while with the Patriots.

Following the documentary’s publication, numerous players criticized the way the producers portrayed their statements. The former Patriots believed that director Matthew Hamachek had excluded much of their happy memories in favor of presenting a drama-filled tale.

If Gronkowski means what he said, that banner could be hanging in Gillette Stadium. Would a little more easy-going Belichick actually have kept Gronkowski and co. in New England? Who knows. But it is some damning testimony from one of the key icons in the second half of the Patriots dynasty.
