Aston Villa Club now speaks directly with £21 million to pay a starting player who would like to join Aston Villa in the previous 24 hours.
Journalist Ben Jacobs claims that one Aston Villa transfer target has spoken with Unai Emery in the last 24 hours and is very enthused about the possibility of a move this summer.
Aston Villa are not wasting time in the transfer market following an extraordinary season in which they qualified for the Champions League.
Unai Emery has spoken with Weston McKennie in the last 24 hours. McKennie’s only previous Premier League experience was a terrible loan term at Leeds, which resulted in the Whites’ relegation.
However, upon his return to Turin, the £21 million-rated midfielder established himself as a vital member of the Juventus squad.
And it appears that Emery is working hard to bring the USMNT player into his squad, with Jacobs telling X that the Villa manager has made contact with the 25-year-old.
“From what I am told he has had a direct conversation with Unai Emery in the last 24 hours and if the deal comes off he would be very excited to play under Unai Emery but also play Champions League football,” he stated.
Aston Villa is taking a gamble, but Emery has more than enough credit in the bank.
McKennie is an intriguing signing for Villa since he has yet to achieve the potential he showed when he was at Schalke.
This was only the second time he had made more than 30 league appearances in a single season, and it was not a year that Juve supporters will remember for long.
But Emery appears to have done very little wrong during his time at Villa, quickly propelling them from the outskirts of a relegation battle to the top four.
Villa fans will be hoping that the Spaniard can help McKennie reach his full potential.
