Tottenham could finally get rid of £200k-a-week star who scored on his Premier League debut
in 2019 for £55million but he’s not played for the club since 2022.
Tottenham are in talks to terminate Tanguy Ndombele’s contract this summer as they look to cut their losses and free up space on the wage bill. The 27-year-old has only made 91 appearances over five years and hasn’t played for the club since January 2022.
It is believed that the French midfielder is on a £200,000-a-week wage in north London. The club is looking to at least make space on the wage bill and is seeking a mutual agreement to part ways this summer.
The last time he played for Tottenham, he was booed off by the home fans as Spurs were 1-0 down in the FA Cup third round against Morecambe and dawdled off the pitch when substituted. This irked supporters, who roundly booed their player for his antics before their team scored three goals in 14 minutes to scrape victory over the minnows. Since then, he has had loan spells at Lyon, Napoli, and more recently Galatasaray.
The former Lyon midfielder scored on his Premier League debut against Aston Villa and went on to score a key goal against Manchester United, while also delivering eight assists. He has had issues with some former Tottenham managers, with Jose Mourinho famously going to get him from his house to work with him during lockdown in the Covid era.
Tottenham looking to build after fifth-placed finish
Tottenham finished fifth in the league table and are building for next season, having already agreed to a contract extension for Timo Werner for another season. They will also be able to bring in another midfielder if they can offload Ndombele this summer.
Eric Dier, Ryan Sessegnon, Ivan Perisic, and Tanguy Ndombele have all left the club this summer as they look to bring in fresh faces and back manager Ange Postecoglou for what should be a very exciting second year under the Australian manager.
