Perfect News : AFC East Rumors: Patriots OL, Saleh, Milano are looking to fill his old role this offseason
With veteran left tackle Trent Brown leaving in free agency, the Patriots are aiming to fill his former role this offseason. As organized team activities have begun, free agent signing Chukwuma korafor has been getting first-team snaps at the position, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss.
Okorafor, the Steelers’ former third-round choice, has spent the first six years of his NFL career in Pittsburgh. During his first two seasons, the Nigerian only appeared in games as an injury replacement. After Okorafor ended his rookie contract with two consecutive seasons as a starter, the Steelers gave him a three-year, $29.25 million extension. However, after losing his starting job to first-round rookie Broderick Jones last year, the Steelers dismissed Okorafor.
Now in New England, Okorafor will have the opportunity to re-earn a starting spot and replace the departing Brown. Okorafor will face Vederian Lowe, who started eight games in injury relief for the Patriots last year, and third-round rookie Caedan Wallace from Penn State.
In other offensive line news from New England OTAs, second-year lineman Atonio Mafi was spotted taking snaps at center behind starter David Andrews. Mafi, a former fifth-round pick who switched from defensive line to guard at UCLA, had yet to play center despite making five starts at left guard as a rookie. New offensive line coach Scott Peters and assistant offensive line coach Robert Kugler appear to be interested in
He is expanding his role on the line.
Here are some other rumors from the AFC East:
We recently reported that Jets head coach Robert Saleh has considered decreasing the position of offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. After losing starting quarterback Aaron, Hackett appeared to be at a loss for options.
Rodgers early in the season. According to a recent report from ESPN’s Rich Cimini, Saleh is now playing a more active role in the offense. The former defensive coordinator appears to be keeping a close eye on Hackett as their respective roles become more competitive in 2024.
Matt Milano, the Bills’ long-time starting linebacker, missed 12 games last season due to a season-ending knee injury. The organization hopes to reunite Milano with last year’s breakout starter Terrel Bernard, but that won’t happen during OTAs. According to Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN, Milano’s recovery is on track, but “it’s probably going to be closer to training camp before he sees the field again.”
