Breaking News :ENGLISHMAN ADMITS IT’S A ‘BITTER BLOW’ HE HAS TO LEAVE WEST HAM UNITED NOW
Following David Moyes’ departure, everything a West Ham United is changing.
Many are not surprised that the Scotsman has left, since this was expected even after their Europa Conference League victory last season.
West Ham United finished the season poorly and failed to qualify for Europe, despite doing so three years in a row under their now-departed management.
When Moyes’ departure was announced, all eyes were on the powers that be at the London Stadium to see who would replace him.
After departing Wolves days before the start of the 2023/24 Premier League season, ex-Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui was given the keys to the building.
However, with the coming of the Spanish coach, there will be a clearout on the other end, even if they have done a wonderful job.
Throughout Moyes’ tenure, he worked with a variety of personnel on the training pitch, but one thing remained constant.
Kevin Nolan, who formerly played as a number one in the lower leagues with Notts County, has been by his side throughout.
The former Hammer added that when Lopetegui arrived, he expected him to continue, but it was a ‘bitter blow’ when the Englishman was informed that he was no longer required, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.
Kevin Nolan left West Ham United.
“To get ourselves into Europe and to just continue to build on that, then you get into Europe and to have three seasons in it,” stated Nolan.
“I believe we were the only team, alongside Manchester City and Liverpool, to play 60 or more games for them over three seasons. The toll it had on us. The work and what it had to accomplish. I thought it was unbelievable. It was a fantastic experience for me to be in the Europa League semi-finals, then win the Conference final, then advance to the quarter-finals and be knocked out by a Leverkusen club that has had an incredible season under Xabi Alonso. It was amazing to be back at West Ham; it meant so much to me. I spent around nine years as a player and coach.
“For me, learning the news on Monday was a cruel blow. Disappointing for me because I wanted to stay. Also, I know it’s football. That is it. That’s finished. We look ahead and start thinking about the future.
Not only will Lopetegui be expected to deliver victories and a return to Europe. But he has to achieve it by playing attractive football.
Moyes had one major problem. He had a plethora of attacking and flair players at his disposal, but many felt like they were playing with handcuffs on.
