The 44-year-old had been connected to Oakwell’s head coach post, which became available last week after Neill Collins was fired. However, he has set Orient fans’ concerns at ease by signing new contracts.

He has been rewarded for his outstanding performance at Brisbane Road with a three-year contract. Wellens remarked, “I’m quite optimistic about what the next three years will bring us.
