The Houston Texans said that wide receiver Tank Dell was shot and wounded early Sunday when gunfire erupted near a Central Florida nightclub.
The squad says Dell “sustained a minor wound” after a gunman opened fire on a crowd outside a Sanford club early Sunday.
The Texans reported that the 24-year-old receiver was released from the hospital later Sunday and was “in good spirits.”
“We are in communication with him and his family and will offer further information as needed, but we ask that you kindly respect his privacy during this time. “Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved in this incident,” the squad stated.
According to an arrest document obtained by
NBC affiliate WESH, the shooting occurred as a result of a scuffle outside the Cabana Live nightclub.
Authorities said a 16-year-old suspect who was not involved in the altercation opened fire on the brawl, injuring ten people. Every victim is expected to
survive.
Police said a security man stopped the mayhem by tackling the shooter shortly after rounds were fired.

According to the sheriff’s office, the young gunman was apprehended and charged with attempted homicide and several other firearms violations.
