Amon-Ra St. Brown has been the most notable draft pick during Brad Holmes’ time asllL general manager (No. 112 overall in 2021). Over the last three seasons, he is sixth in the league in receiving yards (3,588), fifth in receptions (315), and 13th in touchdowns (21).
Regarding his breakout game as a rookie (h/t Will Burchfield of 97.1 The Ticket), St. Brown has the most catches in the NFL, fourth in yards, and tied for fourth in touchdowns.
St. Brown, a fourth-round pick in 2021, is also in the final year of his rookie deal. He was set to receive a large contract extension, and on Wednesday (according to various reports), the Lions inked him to a four-year deal worth more than $120 million, with $77 million guaranteed.
As one of the league’s most productive receivers over the last three seasons, St. Brown deserved a large contract, and it was only a matter of time before it was signed this summer
But it didn’t stop what appears to be a Bears fan, as suggested by the Twitter handle “Let Ryan Poles Eat,” from attempting to dismiss the Lions’ contract with St. Brown. It was also nicely rebutted by Roar Roundup (a clear Lions fan).
Amon-Ra St. Brown cannot be pigeonholed as just a slot receiver.
A too-easy thing to remark about St. Brown’s new contract is “that’s a lot of money for a guy who’s ‘only’ a slot receiver.” As St. Brown proceeded toward signing the new contract, I kept thinking about the prevalent narrative that he was simply a slot receiver. The moment to truly dive into some figures finally arrived.
