In New Haven on Sunday, a police officer was struck while attempting to apprehend a group of ATV riders and sustained injuries.
In recent weeks, officers have increased enforcement in an effort to dissuade people from riding dirt bikes and ATVs without permission in the city.
ATV riders were riding through the city illegally near Ferry Street and Peck Street when an officer tried to stop them and was struck by one of them, according to police.
The officer reportedly had surgery on Monday for a broken leg after suffering a serious leg injury in the collision.
The woman who allegedly hit the officer and the group she was riding with is being sought after by investigators.
