From March 31 to April 11, the world’s top weightlifters competed in Phuket, Thailand, for the IWF World Cup.

2024 IWF World Cup in Phuket, Thailand: What we learned from the last  Olympic weightlifting qualifier

With a maximum of one competitor from each National Olympic Committee in each of the ten weight classes, it was the final qualifying event for Paris 2024. In addition, NOCs are limited to three lifters per gender.

A top-10 finish in each of the ten Olympic classes—obtained by registering the highest total weight in a qualifying competition—is the primary path to Paris.

With eight titles, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea emerged as the most successful country in Thailand.

Nevertheless, none of the athletes from the Asian nation are qualified to compete in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris because they were not present at the required Olympic qualifier held during the World Championships in Riyadh last year.

World records have plummeted, with multiple Olympic weight classes breaking their total WRs.
