In response to THAT Lions hoodoo, the coach says, “Not crook on you asking it.” yet the celebrity has a “different view” of the AFL…
Brisbane Lions coach Chris Fagan downplayed his team’s poor record at the MCG despite their recent loss there, which marked their 13th defeat in their last 14 matches at the venue. Fagan acknowledged the external questions arising from their struggles but refrained from labeling it as a hoodoo.
Former Hawthorn player Jordan Lewis suggested that Brisbane’s difficulties at the MCG were both tactical and psychological. Fagan, however, didn’t delve deeply into the issue, stating that they would aim to improve their performance the next time they play at the ground.
Lachie Neale, the Brownlow Medal winner, echoed Fagan’s sentiments, suggesting that their away record, including at the MCG, wasn’t as dismal as some perceive it to be. Neale emphasized that they’ve had notable victories on the road in recent years.
Fagan attributed their loss to Hawthorn to poor work rate, similar to their struggles at the start of the season after a two-week break. He defended key forward Eric Hipwood against criticism, highlighting his overall contributions throughout the season.
Despite the loss to Hawthorn, Fagan maintained a light-hearted attitude, joking about playing their next game against Sydney at the Gabba, where they haven’t faced each other since 2019.
