Due to an elbow injury, the Green Bay Packers lose a reliable multi-inning reliever for the 2024 campaign..
With NFL free agency winding down and the 2024 NFL Draft approaching, several free agents are still seeking opportunities.
The Packers made significant moves early in free agency, securing former New York Giants safety Xavier McKinney and former Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs to four-year contracts. They also re-signed key players from last season, including A.J. Dillon and Keisean Nixon.
However, the Packers saw some players opt to sign with other teams, including Jon Runyan Jr. (Giants), Darnell Savage (Jaguars), Yosh Nijman (Panthers), Aaron Jones (Vikings), Jonathan Owens (Bears), and most recently, Josiah Deguara (Jaguars).
Despite these moves, several former Packers players remain unsigned and may have to wait until after the NFL Draft to find new teams.
1. David Bakhtiari
The veteran offensive lineman may delay signing with a team until later in the summer as he continues to rehab from a season-ending knee surgery. Bakhtiari has been plagued by injuries, missing numerous games over the past three seasons.
Over the last three seasons, Bakhtiari has only appeared in 13 games, with 11 in 2022. His hefty cap hit for the 2024 season ($40 million) may have contributed to his departure from Green Bay.
However, if Bakhtiari’s rehabilitation progresses well, there is optimism that he will return to the field soon. According to Ian Rapoport, the veteran lineman intends to play this season.
Green Bay fans eagerly anticipate Bakhtiari’s return, as he has been a Pro Bowl lineman when healthy.
